Speaking to members of the press at the DVD launch, director Nabeel Qureshi told how only a few months after the release of their movie, cam-prints had been made available online.
“Our movie was fortunate enough to have such an extended-run in local cinemas but I don’t know how a pirated version of the movie was made available online,” recalled Qureshi. The movie which had also had its television premiere a few weeks ago on Eidul-Fitr also saw several high definition prints of the movie being leaked online. “I don’t know what was going through the minds of bloggers and Facebook page owners when they were sharing HD versions of our film online. I wrote to them, requesting them to remove this otherwise we would be compelled to take legal action against them,” shared the director.
Fizza Ali Meerza, the producer and co-writer of the film, recalled how they had also acquired the services of the armed forces and FIA to conduct raid at Rainbow Centre Karachi. Although there are no immediate plans for a sequel as of yet, the director-producer duo did hint at the possibility of a follow-up to the sleeper hit. “We would definitely like to start work on a follow up but right now we are focused on working on our next film. The sequel would happen but we are going to take a gap of at least one film,” remarked Meerza.
The film which released in United Kingdom earlier this year was unable to attract the same sort of attention and response in the region, something which Meerza attributed to the lack of promotion of the movie. The DVD of the movie is available in stores at Rs 150.
