Pak-Iran-Turkey: Meeting set to finalise ECO train

The train will be operated between Pakistan and Turkey via Iran

LAHORE: A meeting attended by Pakistan, Iran and Turkey railway officials and members of the business community will be held in Pakistan. The meeting is intended to finalise arrangements for the Economic Cooperation Organisation (ECO) train. The date for this meeting is expected to be announced soon. The train will be operated between Pakistan and Turkey via Iran. The aforementioned decision was taken in a meeting presided over by Pakistan Railway Minister Khawaja Saad Rafique at Turkish Railways headquarters. Several matters of common interest were discussed in the meeting including the ECO train, manufacturing at Locomotive Factory Risalpur and Rawalpindi Carriage Factory, and expanding Turkish stake in Pakistan Railways. This initiative is intended to facilitate the transfer of technology and make it easier for Turkish investors to assess opportunities in Pakistan’s Railway industry.
