LAHORE: Lahore High Court (LHC) on Tuesday sought a report until August 28 from federal and Punjab governments and the Lahore Development Authority on a petition challenging the construction of a Chinese consulate in New Muslim Town. The judge had earlier issued notices to the respondents for Tuesday but their  counsel had sought more time for filing replies. Rana Sajjad Siddique, a resident of the area, had moved the petition alleging that a property near his house had been illegally rented for the consulate for $40,000 a month. He said a security wall had been constructed around the property on a service lane and on a portion of Canal Road.He said the authorities were also establishing a check post that would create problems for motorists. He said the residents of nearby houses faced problems while driving on the roads that had been rendered narrow due to the construction activity.
