Sector E-12: Allottees yet to get possession
Allottees have made repeated demands to both CDA and FGEHF to transfer possession
ISLAMABAD:
Civil servants with allotments for land in Sector E-12 have yet to take possession of their properties, despite a July Supreme Court order. Three decades after its launch as a residential area for employees of the federal government, the Capital Development Authority (CDA) has failed to handover possession to allottees and start development work in the sector. Federal employees have paid huge sums in the name of development charges; hundreds of allottees are said to have passed away awaiting possession, while their families continue to wait. “We cannot afford these higher rents. Where should we go now?” asked the widow of a government employee. The authority is said to have handed over 80 per cent of the allotments to the Federal Government Employees Housing Foundation (FGEHF). Allottees have made repeated demands to both CDA and FGEHF to transfer possession, with neither having complied thus far.
