A fan recently tweeted to JK Rowling asking about the possibility of a Harry Potter-based TV show. “So, like … We had seven books and eight movies. We’re getting a play and 3 spin-off movies. Where is our TV Show?” asked the fan.

Rowling’s response slayed all anticipation, hinting that there were already enough spin-offs in the works.

“Right after the opera, Potter-on-ice and the interpretative dance version of Beedle the Bard #NotActuallyHappening,” Rowling replied.

With her books being all the rage among her readers, it’s hard to believe that there won’t be an expanding franchise leading to a TV show. A Harry Potter spin-off set 70 years before the original series timeframe, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, will hit cinemas next year, starring Eddie Redmayne as Newt Scamander, the wizard author of the titular book.

The movie will follow the journey of Scamander’s travels to various places in order to log down the various magical creatures of their mystical world. Last week, it emerged that Colin Farrell will also appear in the film.

While writing the screenplay for this spin-off, Rowling is also working on a story for a play titled Harry Potter and the Cursed Child with Jack Thorne and John Tiffany. The play is set to be premiered in the summer of 2016 in London.
