At least six people were killed in different incidents across Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) on Monday.


In the first incident, three employees of a private security company were killed when a jeep they were travelling in fell into a deep ravine in the Hajeera area of Rawalakot district. The deceased were identified as Javaid, Pervez and Khalil, residents of Rawalakot and Pallandri.

The police said that the ill-fated jeep was going to Trarkhal from Hajeera to collect cash from banks. According to the police, the driver lost control of the vehicle while negotiating a sharp curve near Tangi Gali Hajeera before plunging into the gorge. All three on board died on the spot, the police said.


Locals and police rushed to the site and retrieved the bodies from the wreckage and shifted them to the Trarkhal hospital for medico-legal formalities.

In another incident, a tourist drowned while swimming in a stream in the Surgan area in Neelum Valley. The deceased was identified as Nazir Awan, a resident of Muzaffarabad.

Meanwhile, 37-year-old Raja Qasim, a resident of Chattrary village, was electrocuted in Tatapani area of Rawalakot. According to the police, Qasim came in contact with a live wire while fixing a fault in a water pump. He died on the spot.

In another incident, Javed Mir, 18, was killed in an accidental gun fire in the Bahardi Patika area, some 40 kilometres from Muzaffarabad. According to the police, Mir died after a bullet went off his rifle while he was cleaning the gun.
