The much anticipated collaboration of two of Pakistan's most iconic musical bands Vital Signs and Junoon finally took place on Monday evening when they came together to release a brand new national song, ‘Chaand Sitaara’, complete with composing maestro Shoaib Mansoor at the helm.

While Salman Ahmed gained prominence with Junoon, he had started his musical career with Junaid Jamshed and Shehzad 'Shahi' Hasan in Vital Signs. In effect, Monday was the reunion of the orignal Vital Signs more than a collaboration with Junoon.

The event was organised at the Royal Palm in Lahore, and was attended by a number of iconic Pakistani sports starts, musicians and other celebrities including cricketers Shahid Afridi, Shoaib Malik, Umar Akmal, blind cricket bowler Zeeshan Abbasi, chess champion Mehak Gul, Formula-3 driver Saad Ali, Hadiqa Kiyani, Zoe Viccaji, Anoushey Ashraf, among others were spotted at the launch ceremony.

Artists including Zoe Viccaji and Junoon's Salman Ahmed also performed.

Earlier in January, the former bassist for the band, Shehzad or ‘Shahi’ Hasan, had released the teaser for 'Chaand Sitaara'.

The former musicians, who had brought such timeless classic songs such as Dil Dil Pakistan and Hum Hain Pakistani, had promised a new 'national' song for the people of Pakistan.

“This is an official teaser for Chand Sitara, an upcoming song & video from the members of Vital Signs, Junoon and Shoaib Mansoor,” Shahi had posted on his page.

He said it was a step towards unification of Pakistan, which is why why the members of Vital Signs and Junoon and Shoaib Mansoor had united.

“The story of Chand Sitara reflects the brighter days of yesterday, the struggles of today and the promise of a better tomorrow through unity and courage,” the Facebook post said.

“Lets bring those peaceful, progressive times back...When the songs had a meaning, when our sportsmen were the champions, when a road led to a destination. Those times are not far, only if we decide to contribute individually however we can!”
