LAHORE: Indian Bhangra singer Sukhbir Singh stopped for carrying more than permissible cash escaped arrest from Customs and Airport Security Force officials at Allama Iqbal International Airport on Sunday.

Singh was to board flight PK203 to Dubai with $29,000. An official at the airport told The Express Tribune that Singh could not be spotted at the Customs check point and was arrested at the next counter with the cash.

He said they recovered the amount, but later Singh dodged the customs officials and slipped out of the airport. He is in the city though, the official said.

Earlier this year, supermodel Ayyan was arrested from Islamabad airport on charges of money laundering. The model was arrested on March 14 after she was caught with $500,000 which she was allegedly smuggling to Dubai.

JSM | 9 years ago | Reply Sukhbir Singh, the singer is not an Indian national. He is Indian born but left India at a very younf age. He carries a Kenyan Passport. Please check your facts before publishing news. It shows competence of Pakistani agencies that they let the Kenyan slip away.
