LAHORE:

Cement dispatches to domestic market in July clocked in at 1.8 million tons compared to 1.73 million during the same month last year, showing an increase of 4.19 %. Exports in July totaled 465,000 tons against 503,000 tons in the same time last year, showing reduction of 7.45%.

A better offtake was observed in domestic dispatches in July despite heavy rains that affected construction activities in many parts of the country. Exports, however, continued to disappoint.

A spokesperson for All Pakistan Cement Manufacturers Association (APCMA) said that exports declined mainly because of non-tariff barriers erected by the Indian authorities and influx of Iranian cement in Afghanistan.
