Rising temperatures: Two succumb to heatstroke in Swabi

The duration of unscheduled load-shedding has also increased in the district

Two people died of heatstroke in separate areas of Swabi district on Friday. An official privy to the development told The Express Tribune, the identity of only one of the two deceased could be ascertained.


“Zahir Mohammad, a resident of Zaida Town, was suffering from a heatstroke,” he said. The official said Mohammad was being rushed to the hospital when he breathed his last. According to the official, the second victim died in Dodher village. Identity of the deceased could not be ascertained till the filing of this report.


He is believed to be a cousin of councillor-elect Israr Mohammad and former councillor Bakht Nabi.


As the weather took a tricky turn, sizzling temperatures, along with prolonged power outages, have added to the woes of the residents of Swabi.


The duration of unscheduled load-shedding has also increased in the district, adding to the misery to the residents.


At least 18 hours of daily load-shedding are being witnessed in Marghuz, the native town of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Assembly Speaker Asad Qaiser.
