Get fit, lose flab or risk transfer. This is the message that has been conveyed to the staff of the Islamabad Traffic Police (ITP), by the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), Malik Matloob Ahmed.
He said on Thursday overweight policemen would have to lose weight or they would be transferred.
The SSP said that the policemen would have to get fit and smart so that the performance of the traffic police could improve. He gave a deadline of two months the policemen to get in shape.
In a crackdown against fat cops, the ITP has issued instructions to all those who have potbellies and do not fulfill the criteria described by the model traffic police.
All officials falling in the category were called to the ITP Headquarters and the SSP himself measured them. Ahmed said officials would have to lose weight or the ITP.
