Six month report: 72 arrested on charges of corruption

Rs1 billion was recovered by the bureau during the first half of the ongoing year

PESHAWAR: National Accountability Bureau Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa awareness and prevention wing director said 72 people were arrested, 20 references were filed in accountability courts and Rs1 billion was recovered by the bureau during the first half of the ongoing year. Addressing a seminar on anti-corruption at District Council Hall in Mansehra on Thursday, the director elaborated on the bureau’s performance throughout the six months and its role in uprooting corruption from the province. The event was put together by Mansehra district administration in collaboration with NAB K-P. Mansehra DC, deputy district education officers, politicians and notables from different sections of society were present on the occasion. Speakers termed self-accountability crucial for improving the society on the whole and lauded the bureau’s efforts for taking indiscriminate action against all those officials inflicting losses on the public exchequer.
