FAISALABAD:

Scores of residents of 12 villages of Mamu Kanjan on Wednesday staged a protest demonstration against the Faisalabad Electric Supply Company (FESCO) for moving its sub-division office to Killianwala.

The protesters gathered at Mamu Kanjan Road and staged a sit-in there.

Talking to newsmen, Haji Mehr Khuda said the FESCO had moved the sub-division office for 12 villages to Killianwala. He said the Killianwala office was far from their villages.

“We will have to commute to another part of the city to register complaints from our neighbourhoods,” he said.

Mehr Muhammad Yar Kathia, another protester, said it was reported that Killianwala subdivision office was overloaded. “Low voltage is a common problem people face there,” he said.

He said if 12 more villages were to be served by Killianwala subdivision, it would aggravate the situation. The protesters chanted slogans against the FESCO and demanded cancellation of the notification on change of the subdivision office for Chak 554-GB, 555-GB, 556-GB, 557-GB, 558-GB, 501-GB, Abadi Darbar Pir Salahud Din, Mauza Abuwahnio Wal, Aalam Shah Taja, Hayat Kathia and Hakeem Kathia.
