Zayn Malik and Perrie Edwards end engagement

Zayn reportedly contacted Perrie two weeks ago and said it was over.

Former One Direction member Zayn Malik  has ended his engagement to Perrie Edwards. The heartthrob proposed to the Little Mix singer in late 2013. 

Zayn contacted 22-year-old Perrie two weeks ago and said it was over. She felt "devastated" after that. "She's been putting on a brave face, as Little Mix have had promotion to do, but she's obviously devastated," People quoted a source as saying.

"Perrie's being supported by her band mates, but she's really in pieces about this," the source reportedly told People.

Perrie confirmed the news in an interview with E! on Tuesday. When asked how she is doing post split, she said, "I'm good, thank you."

Their relationship took a new turn when the British-Pakistani singer sparked a controversy of cheating on his fiancee earlier this year. He was spotted with ‘Essex girl’ Lauren Richardson while on a night out in Phuket, Thailand.

Following the incident, the singer left his band claiming he wanted to live a normal life.

Days after Zayn had quit One Direction, Swedish model Martina Olsson claimed that he cheated on Perrie with her.

His former bandmate Liam Payne also said that Zayn left the British boy band because of his relationship with Perrie Edwards.

Speculations about the couple's wedding plans have been rife these past two years. It was being reported that they might be planning to tie the knot this summer at Disneyland Paris.

Earlier in July, it was reported that Zayn and Perrie had spent a whopping three million pounds on a six-bedroom love nest just outside London.

The former couple is currently in Los Angeles as Perrie is busy promoting Little Mix's single Black Magic and Zayn is working on his new record deal with RCA. But according to People's source, the two haven't seen each other.
