Rangers asks MQM to hand over target killers

The paramilitary force, while providing a list of the suspects, demanded that the MQM hand over custody of these men

KARACHI:
The paramilitary Rangers on Tuesday asked the MQM to hand over custody of its 187 workers, who are nominated in cases of the targeted killings of police officials who participated in the Karachi operation in 1990s.

According to a letter, a copy of which is available with The Express Tribune, the Rangers said all the police officials and personnel who had participated in the 90’s operation against MQM have been killed one by one.

The letter said 187 men, allegedly belonging to the militant wing of the MQM-A (the main MQM group), had been nominated in the FIRs of these murders. The paramilitary force, while providing a list of the suspects, demanded that the MQM hand over custody of these men to the Rangers so that investigations into the cases against them can move forward.

The letter was also sent to the Sindh Chief Minister’s secretariat, Secretary Home Department, Sindh Inspector General Police and AIG Karachi.
