ISLAMABAD: Almost all major Baloch insurgent groups, except Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA) chief Nawabzada Harbyar Marri, have opened negotiations with the stakeholders in Balochistan, The Express Tribune has learnt.

According to sources privy to the development, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif was informed about the latest situation of the talks between various factions of Baloch rebels and the local stakeholders, including the provincial government.

According to PM House, Chief Minister Balochistan Dr Abdul Malik Baloch along with his National Party (NP) head Hasil Bizenjo called on Premier Nawaz on Tuesday.

The chief minister briefed the prime minister about the development projects and security situation in the province, the official statement said.

The sources said that PM Nawaz was informed that except BLA chief almost all the major factions have come to the negotiating table and law and order situation of the province has improved.

Balochistan Liberation Front (BLF) chief Dr Allah Nazar, they said, has fled the country and most probably is stationed in Afghanistan.

The NP senior leadership, including Dr Malik Baloch, approached the BLF factions and succeeded in convincing a majority of their affiliated groups to lay down arms.

The sources added that Brahamdagh Bugti is also in talks with the government and hopefully he would give a positive response to the authorities.

The chief minister also briefed PM Nawaz about efforts of PML-N leaders, including Sanaullah Zehri, who met the Khan of Kalat to try to persuade him to return to the country.

Zaffar Baloch | 9 years ago | Reply A blatant lie, as usual. This theatrical competition among the Islamabad-backed chieftains (Sardar Sanaullah Zehri & Nawabzada Changez Marri) on one hand and the so-called middle class spokesman Dr. Abdul Malik is for securing the top executive position in the Balochistan assembly. And it seems like CM Abdul Malik has a slight edge over the rest for being the most loyal servant of the military establishment. Balochistan will never surrender although outgunned by 600,000 strong Pakistani army; it will emerge victorious because of its great political, moral and historically just struggle for the motherland.

Pakistan can only unlock its true potential when all ethnic groups are equal stakeholders and united on a common platform to achieve prosperity for all
