KARACHI: The traffic police announced that traffic violators will be penalised with up to six months imprisonment after August 10. The department decided to present such violators before the judicial traffic magistrate under section 99 of the Motor Vehicle Ordinance. Action will also be taken against bus drivers who carry passengers on the rooftop. According to traffic police official Muhammad Idrees, it is necessary to present traffic violators before the judicial traffic magistrate as imposing the fine was not enough. Traffic DIG Amir Ahmed Shaikh has also warned school van owners to remove the compressed natural gas and liquefied petroleum gas kits from their vehicles or face the wrath of his department after August 21.
