Pakistan's unsung Paralympics medalists

Team Pakistan returned home on Wednesday from the Asian Paralympic Games after winning two gold and a bronze medal in the competitions.

Ali Haider who was representing Pakistan set the new Asian record in Long Jump while Muddassar Bag won a gold medal in the 400 meter race.

National Paralympics Committee president Tariq Mustafa said that the players have proved their talents and that the government should take a keen interest in providing funds to groom them further.

This years Asian Paralympic Games proved to be a colossal event as some 2,512 athletes, 1,286 officials, 1,096 technical officials of delegations from 41 countries and regions of Asia took part.

Furthermore, 2,558 journalists from 185 media took part in the Asian Para Games. Approximately 74 athletes from 13 delegations broke 82 Asian records 74 times, 31 delegations shared medals and more than 470,000 spectators attended Asian Para Games events.

The games ended on Sunday in the southern Chinese city of Guangzhou.
