Army prepared to respond to any threat on LoC: Gen Raheel

Gen Raheel reviews security situation across country during Corps Commanders' conference

During the Corps Commanders' Conference held on Tuesday at the General Headquarter in Rawalpindi, army chief General Raheel Sharif asserted that the military was prepared to counter any kind of threat.

Gen Raheel also expressed complete satisfaction over "noticeable changes" in the overall security situation of the country, an Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) statement read.

Participants of the meeting discussed the internal and external security situation of the country at length and reviewed the progress of Operation Zarb-e-Azb and Intelligence-based Operations (IBOs).

After the state of readiness and vigil by troops along the Line of Control (LOC) was reviewed, the army chief said, “We are fully prepared to respond to entire spectrum of threat.”

While referring to peace talks between the Afghan government and the Taliban, the army chief also said it was the only credible way to achieve lasting peace. He also said that detractors and spoilers were against peace and prosperity of Afghanistan and the region.

SKChadha | 9 years ago | Reply Gurdaspur is the first instance where GOI refrained from pointing finger towards GOP? Slowly, the realization of isolating Non-GOI (not non-state) actors from GOI is coming in play. I have not seen Pak Army so low or gloomy in past? Even Altaf has started questioning their actions? As an Indian I feel that if this situation continue for long, probably the issue of threat will vanish altogether. Let us wait and watch.

BTW are you expecting them to be happy and chirpy when country is fighting a huge war and people are dying? They have a job to do and should be focused on that during official meetings.

Waseem Ch | 9 years ago | Reply @Arif: When you have a ruling political class which is preoccupied with 'minting money' and enjoying the perks of power, and a liberal leftist agenda espousing continuous venomous propaganda vs our security institutions, the result is you get a docile and neutered national mindset, beset by confusion and misplaced focus on petty issues. When an opponent senses weakness, he will always strike.
