For the first time since 1990, a woman lawmaker will preside over proceedings of the Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Assembly. Qaumi Watan Party’s Anisa Zeb Tahirkheli will take charge of affairs on Tuesday (today) in the absence of the speaker and deputy speaker. Speaker Asad Qaiser will serve as the acting governor in the absence of Governor Sardar Mehtab Ahmad Khan.
According to assembly rules, the deputy speaker takes charge in the absence of the speaker. In the absence of both, the MPA topping the list of panel members takes control. Tahirkheli is also heading a committee addressing grievances of officers recruited under the Provincial Management Services.
