ISLAMABAD:

The Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Monday issued notices to respondents on a petition challenging the cancellation of promotions of bureaucrats.

On the recommendation of the CSB, the prime minister had promoted over 300 bureaucrats. The promotions were later challenged by 64 bureaucrats and IHC Justice Shaukat Aziz Siddique declared the promotions null and void.

The federation later challenged the verdict. When IHC Justice Amir Farooq took up the petition filed by the federation, Deputy Attorney General Afnan Karim Kundi argued that the IHC’s previous order on promotions should be stayed until a complete verdict was issued by the court.
