Training the young: PILDAT concludes first youth parliament session

KARACHI:

Sixty participants completed the first session of Pakistan Institute of Legislative Development and Transparency (Pildat) Youth Parliament. Participants were given training on democratic and political affairs of Pakistan, legislative processes and leadership skills.

The session was organised from July 29 till August 2. Eleven training modules were created to train the participants.

These modules included parliament and provincial legislatures, history and development of the Constitution of Pakistan, working of parliament, local governments, electoral reforms, national security, civil military relations, the budget process, governance, energy crisis, entry and advancement in politics, and foreign policy.

The participants were divided into four standing committees. Speaking to The Express Tribune, Pildat president Ahmed Bilal said it was an honour for his organisation to teach young Pakistanis the true essence of democracy.
