Flood Havoc: 23,915 evacuated from flood-hit areas

LAHORE: The Punjab Emergency Service (Rescue 1122) has evacuated 23,915 flood victims from flood-hit districts of the Punjab so far, a statement issued on Thursday said. A total of 8,266 people have been evacuated from Rahim Yar Khan; 2,265 from Muzaffargarh; 1,741 from Rajanpur and 9,676 from Layyah. Rescue 1122 spokesperson Jam Sajjad Hussain said major rescue operations were conducted in Layyah; DeraGhazi Khan, Muzaffargarh, Rahim Yar Khan, Chiniot and Rajanpur districts. According to the Provincial Monitoring Cell of Punjab Emergency Service, 4,224 flood-victims have been evacuated from Chachran Sharif, 3,212 from Chuhan village, 477 from Bhong and 353 from Abadpur in Rahim Yar Khan district; 4,262 from Sumra Nashaib, 473 from Lohanch Nashaib, 448 from Dewan Chowk, 307 from Bakhri Ahmed Khan village, 303 from Basti Gurmani, 20 from Mongar, 287 from Mouza Shahwala, 1,300 from Wara Sehr, 908 from Basti Jakhar, 188 from Maqsood Chowk and 310 have been evacuated from Basti Kanjal in Layyah district. Similarly, 266 people have been evacuated from Tari Khel Kacha, 221 from Mouch Kacha and 231 from Rokharri Kacha in Mianwali district; 627 have been evacuated from Kundai, 463 from Bangla Hinjra, 338 from Left Marginal Band and three from Rind Adda in Muzaffargarh district.
