Perennial issue: No women vote in Akora Khattak

AKORA KHATTAK:

The staff at Government Girls Primary School Meshak polling station in Akora Khattak, Nowshera sat idle all day long as not a single woman turned up to cast her vote.

Talking to The Express Tribune, Assistant Presiding Officer Tayyaba Saliha said over 1,100 female voters were registered in the area. “The locals might have decided not to allow women to vote.” Meanwhile, the polling process was delayed at Government Primary School Suriya Khel polling station because of the absence of electoral signs of three candidates, Iftikhar, Amir Suhail and Muntazir, from ballot papers. New ballots arrived after one-and-a-half hour.
