It’s time Nato commanders are held accountable for their achievements in the war on terror as strictly as Pakistan is.
ISLAMABAD: While I agree with Asad Munir’s article titled “Review of Obama’s Afghan policy” (December 21), there are some things I would like to add.
Nato forces have not been able to secure Taliban dominated provinces, where they have conducted three major operations in the last nine years. Pakistan is being blamed for unabated insurgencies in Afghanistan. The US is always pushing Pakistan to do more, but they should also be pressurising Coalition Forces to secure the eastern provinces. Once North Waziristan is secure, Nato forces will have no excuse for their failure to control the momentum of Taliban activities. The death toll for Pakistani forces is more than 30,000 while that for Nato forces, in nine years, is less than 2,000. It’s time that Nato commanders are held accountable for their achievements in the war on terror as strictly as Pakistan is.
