Italy’s army chief says he sees Pakistan Army with respect and admiration and vowed to eliminate terrorism together

Chief of Army Staff General Raheel Sharif was presented guard of honor by Italy’s military at their headquarters on Tuesday.

General Raheel Sharif is currently on a three-day official visit to Italy where he met his Italian counterpart and discussed military relations, enhancing cooperation, defence cooperation and training.

The COAS also met the country's Defence Forces chief who appreciated Pakistan’s success and expertise in fighting against terrorism, DG ISPR Major-General Asim Bajwa tweeted.

According to Bajwa, Italy’s Army Chief Lieutenant General Danilo Errico said that he saw Pakistan Army with respect and admiration and vowed to eliminate terrorism together.

Earlier on Monday, Italy’s foreign minister commended the army for its positive role in ensuring regional peace and security.

According to Maj-Gen Bajwa, COAS General Raheel Sharif is on a three-day official visit to Italy, where he met with Italy’s foreign minister and visited Air Defence headquarters. A number of meetings with Italy’s political and military leadership have been lined up for the bilateral visit.

Muhammad | 9 years ago | Reply @Vectra: Your assessment is based on the facts that you are unaware about the details and ultimate shape of what would constitute CPEC. CPEC is actually a network of roads, channels or whatever, some of which were not built very long ago, which will become connected with the ultimate product called CPEC. Chinese will be spending as soon as the new work starts which I guess will soon happen once the final route has left the drawing table. As far the army living like kings ours is a very professional army who has given thousands of lives protecting us and the world by one of the most difficult operations along the Pak-afghan belt to eliminate terrorists. Yes we do pamper them with up to date modern armament which is not cheap but there is no price for protecting country's future. It's ability can be judged by the fact that in the past half century it has kept its main enemy at bay in its proper place.

In view of Pakistan present and future role these tours reflect our ongoing involvement. The military action currently underway along the Pak-Afghan border is being appreciated by the world community and the chief certainly enjoying guard of honour ceremonies where ever he goes. His tours are planned both by the military and civil leadership.

Vectra | 9 years ago | Reply These kind of things suits pakistan generals and is a source of continuous fund flow from pakistan public and pak govt.Yesterday i read a article in dawn and Et which says the pak army claims 502 km of CPEC is already completed and pak people jumped the band wagon to praise their chief as hero etc etc.But they even don't bothered to take a deep look that CPEC fund is not yet disbursed and still some of those terms and condition are negotiated.The deal was only announced just a couple of months back and China unlikely to release these funds so easily given their past track records.They are very cautious in that and completing 502 KM highways in 3-4 months as claimed by pak army is a naive assertion nnothing else.These roads that pak army claims is actually may be motorways or something like that that was build much before CPEC deal was ever agreed and not fall in CPEC category.It is excluding from that.But if it was part of CPEC then why pak govt is taking loan for that already build part of 700+ Km from China and saying wit will be built in future when the 700+ Km was not part of $46 billion rather it is part of China's earlier loans excluding CPEC loans.This means pak army and politicians will borrow money in the name of already build road and say to public "hey look we build the CPEC as promised but they will pocket that part of amount and live like a king and pak public will pay for than part of loan which was never used in the claimed 700+ km road as claimed by militay.Think about it.

Yes, the civilian government is capable of everything if it is allowed to function properly. Raheel Sharif is just trying to clean the mess his former bosses created, not Nawaz Sharif. tmm | 9 years ago | Reply What's going on here. He is spending most of his time abroad rather than in Pakistan. I am unable to understand what benefit this particular visit can bring for our country. I am sure he does not need any approval from anyone once he decides to make an overseas trip. if there is another life and I am born again in Pakistan, I will make no mistake to join Pak Army. No job like this.
