ISLAMABAD: Two children were burnt to death and three others injured in a house explosion at Bari Imam in the small hours of Monday.

The incident took place at around 4am when a gas cylinder exploded injuring Ansar, his wife, and three children, hospital sources said.

The injured were taken to the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (Pims) where doctors pronounced four-year-old Noor Ansar, and two-year-old Osama Ansar, dead on arrival.

Ansar, his wife Rubina and their daughter, Areeba who had sustained 20 to 30 per cent burn wounds, have been admitted to the intensive care unit (ICU) of Pims in critical condition.

While talking to The Express Tribune, Pims Spokesperson Dr Ayesha Ishani said although the victims had suffered 30 per cent burn wounds, they were brought to the hospital after a lapse of five hours of the incident.

They were first taken to a local ‘Hakeem’, and later to the Polyclinic. They were finally brought to Pims at around 9am.

This was the main reason that worsened their injuries, she said.
