Continuous Decrease : APTMA chief concerned over exports

Textile sector exports have registered downward growth by 2.65% in value terms during June 2015

LAHORE: All Pakistan Textile Mills Association (Aptma) Chairman SM Tanveer has expressed his worry over the continuous decline in textile exports in June 2015. He said that the textile sector exports have registered a significant decline in quantity terms during the month of June 2015 against the corresponding period. Exports of cloth have declined by 27.5%, followed by 12 % in ready-made garments, 65% in art, silk and synthetic, 4.2% in towel and 32% yarn other than cotton yarn. He said the textile sector exports have registered downward growth by 2.65% in value terms during June 2015. He said the Aptma has been pointing out the drop in exports and the reasons behind it to the government. “Aptma has recently put forward a seven-point proposal for revival of the textile industry to overcome the dwindling exports,” he said.
