ISLAMABAD: A man claiming to be the prime minister’s relative has threatened to kill a person who accused him of fraud.

The claimant, Tassawar Gilani, has also filed five false cases against Shahzada Ahsan. Ahsan’s son told Daily Express that Gilani had sold his father vehicles on which custom duty had not been paid. When details of the illicit transaction surfaced, Gilani, pre-empting a reaction, filed fake cases against Ahsan, threatening to kill his sons. Ahsan has accused controller of the Punjab House, Ather Qureshi for being involved in the scam. Additional sessions judge Rawalpindi had issued orders to register a case against Athar Qureshi after inspecting the relevant documents, however the Rawalpindi police did not follow the court’s order and instead referred the file to the Islamabad police, Ahsan’s son Saad said.

A case was finally registered in the Secretariat police station against Athar Qureshi who was never arrested because of his influence, while we have registered a case against Gilani at the Shalimar police station.’ Saad further said that Gilani has threatened that he will kill him and his father and any action the family takes against him or Ather Qureshi will result in grave consequences for Saad and his sisters. Saad has appealed to Chief Justice of Pakistan Iftikhar Muhammad Choudhry to take notice of the issue and save his father from being killed in jail.
