Her efforts proved to be fruitful and finally received a call from a man who claimed to be her biological father.

“He said, 'You know I remember your mom, she was very beautiful, and I’m just amazed. I’m excited,' and he said, 'I don't know what to say,'” Gomez said.
Subsequently, on July 11, she shared on Facebook that she was travelling to Vancouver to carry out the paternity test. 'So nervous, excited and feeling blessed,’ she wrote.
On July 22 the test came back positive. After which she wrote, ‘I got the results!!! 99.99998%,’ she wrote. ‘Tears of PURE JOY! My missing piece in my life is over and now a new beginning!’ Gomez also expressed a great deal of gratitude to those who facilitated her search for her father by sharing her story.

Gomez's parents met in 1977 in Lodi, California. According to Gomez, “They were together for two months, and then he said, 'I'm moving to Seattle.' When I was born, my mom said that she did not have the chance to tell him that, 'I was pregnant' and that, you know, he was going to have a little girl,” she said.
