Additional District Collector Kanwar Ejaz Khaliq on Sunday directed the Labour Department to conduct a survey of brick kilns across Faisalabad so that health and education facilities could be provided to kiln workers. Addressing Labour Department staff, owners of kiln houses and heads of workers associations, Khaliq said Labour Department workers should survey kilns and submit a report by the end of July. The ADC said action would be taken against kiln owners who had failed to provide education and health facilities to workers and their children. “I have received numerous complaints from kiln workers,” he said. He said he had heard that kiln workers were not getting the wages notified by the government and social security cards. He said registration of brick kiln houses had started. He said the process would be completed by the end of August.
