Yet again: ‘Building Kalabagh Dam won’t be allowed’

HYDERABAD: Floods in parts of Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa have renewed the demands of some Punjab politicians for the construction of Kalabagh Dam, however the Sindh government says it will never agree to this proposal. Sindh information and irrigation minister Nisar Khuhro said that the people have rejected this dam and other controversial projects, such as Chashma-Jhelum link canal. He added that instead of fomenting a divide among the provinces over Kalabagh Dam, work on Bhasha Dam should be started. Khuhro asserted that the Bhasha project will serve both as a water reservoir and for hydro power production.

Ali | 9 years ago | Reply The Pakistani Feudal Party does not care if half the country is submerged by floods. Their leaders all either live in Clifton/Defence in Karachi or Dubai. Their followers are the ones that drown every year but they can't raise their voice against their over lords.
NADEEM | 9 years ago | Reply These politicians will never allow anything (in the name of 200mln people) which may change the fate of so called 200mln people and for this cause they are one though it appears that they have rifts. Kalabagh is a gift from nature for preparation of Dam but they damn care while accumulating personal prosperities.
