KOHAT: The Kohat police arrested four alleged culprits on charges of a double homicide in Shahpur, Kohat district, on Saturday.

Muhammad Riaz Shaheed SHO Saadat Khan said a complaint had been filed against a double homicide on July 11.

Laiba, 13, had found dacoits in her house in Barh. When she tried to shout and warn other members of her family, the men hanged her. Laiba’s cousin, Amir, 35, approached the scene but the murderers hit him with an axe, severely injuring him. Amir succumbed to his injuries at the hospital later. The alleged culprits, however, managed to flee.

Saadat launched an investigation and successfully arrested Irfan, one of the suspects, from Barh. During interrogation, Irfan confessed and revealed his accomplices, escape plan.

Based on this information, the SHO ordered setting up a check post near Tanda Dam to search all vehicles. A pickup van with the three remaining suspected murderers, Israr Khan and his two sons, Zeeshan Khan and Ikram Khan, was spotted. The men tried to escape when they saw the police. Police chased the vehicle and arrested them. Israr, Zeeshan and Ikram were taken to the police station for further investigation.

Meanwhile, Sharbdin was allegedly killed by Khan Muhammad and his son Zar Muhammad near Hangu Phatak. The brother of the deceased said the accused, both residents of Suleman Khel in Kohat, were Sharbdin’s enemies. Police registered an FIR against both father and son and started an investigation.
