KARACHI: Ruling out the possibility of flooding, the Sindh government has declared 46 points of the Indus River 'sensitive', where officials of the irrigation department have been asked to monitor these places round the clock.

On Thursday, newly appointed Sindh Information Minister Nisar Ahmed Khuhro said that the water flow coming from up country will safely pass into the Arabian Sea. "Currently 0.4million cusecs of water has reached the Guddu and Sukkur Barrages and a maximum flow of 0.6 million cusecs can hit these barrages and pass without any loss," he said, adding that the provincial government has strengthened the embankments of River Indus and that there is no threat to the dykes.
