Motives unknown: Couple shot dead by gunmen in Kalat

Habibullah and his wife had recently shifted to Kalat from Jhal Magsi.

QUETTA: A couple were shot dead at their home in the Kohang area of Kalat Wednesday morning.

“Gunmen barged into the house of Habibullah and killed him and his wife,” SHO Kalat Muhammad Umar Nechari told The Express Tribune by phone. The killers fled the scene unidentified and unchallenged.

Police and rescuers shifted the bodies to the District Headquarters Hospital where doctors said the victims had sustained multiple bullets to their upper torsos that caused their instant deaths.

It was immediately not know who killed the couple and why. “The couple had recently shifted to Kalat from their hometown of Jhal Magsi,” SHO Nechari said.

Police informed the heirs of the victims about the incident who travelled to Kalat and took the bodies to Jhal Magsi for burial. Police have registered a case against unidentified gunmen and started investigation.
