RAWALPINDI:

The Rawalpindi Cantonment Board (RCB) officials on Wednesday expanded the operation against encroachments along streams to prevent possible flooding.

RCB Chief Executive Officer Faheem Zafar said the operation would continue without any discrimination. Speaking to a delegation of dwellers of low-lying areas of the cantonment, Zafar said that encroachments were a major cause of flooding in various areas and no one would be allowed to carry out illegal construction.

Zafar warned the encroachers to demolish their constructions otherwise RCB would take action against them which will also include registration of FIRs.

Meanwhile, the district government has made all arrangements to cope with possible flooding in Nullah Leh. According to official sources, rescue boats and scuba diving kits besides five water suction pumps are being provided to Rescue 1122 and the Wasa.
