Saarc meeting: Delegation leaves for Bhutan

About 1.4 billion Asians were poor and earning less than poverty threshold of $1.25 per day

LAHORE: An eight-member Pak delegation has left for Bhutan to attend two-day annual meeting of the SAARC Chamber of Commerce and Industry to be held on July 25. Leader of the delegation, SAARC CCI Pak chapter Vice President Iftikhar Ali Malik said that all vice presidents of chambers, one each from Bangladesh, Nepal, Sri Lanka, India, Maldives, Bhutan, Afghanistan and Pakistan will present their annual performance report at the moot chaired by its president Ismail Asif from Maldives. He said that about 1.4 billion Asians were poor and earning less than poverty threshold of $1.25 per day. He said this issue will be taken up at the moot so that a viable strategy could be devised leading to rapid industrialisation in the region with active participation of member countries.
