This was stated in a handout issued on Thursday and was part of a felicitation message to the people on the occasion.
According to the document, Mehtab pressed people to not forget those tribespeople who have been displaced from their homes due to the ongoing military offensives in North Waziristan and Khyber Agency. “Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa and Fata have faced hard times due to militancy,” read the handout. “A large number of people have displaced from their houses. We need to give great respect to them and reciprocate by assisting their return.”
The handout lauded the Pakistan Army for successfully launching operations Zarb-e-Azb, Khyber I and Khyber II to eliminate militancy from the region.
“It is imperative to maintain unity, brotherhood and cohesion with those who have been fighting for our safety,” stated the handout. “Only then can we appreciate the efforts of the military and achieve the goal of peace in the region.”
The governor hoped the displaced population would be repatriated soon so they can live peacefully.
