Govt approves Rs480m for Steel Mill to pay salaries ahead of Eid

ISLAMABAD: Finance Minister Ishaq Dar on Thursday approved Rs480 million for the Pakistan Steel Mills (PSM) so that employees can be paid a month's wages ahead of Eid.

According to a statement, the finance minister conveyed his anticipatory approval as Chairman ECC from Medina.

The decision has been taken on humanitarian grounds for the PSM employees, and their families, the statement added.

This grant comes just two weeks after the government had approved Rs960m for Steel Mills to pay salaries of March and April to all of its employees.

On July 8, it said the suspension of gas to its plant had caused a complete shutdown of its manufacturing operations, which could badly damage the machinery.
