The Pakistan Meteorological Department said on Thursday the chances of sighting the Eid moon on Friday were extremely high, Express News reported.

If the moon is sighted on Friday, Eidul Fitr will take place on Saturday, July 18.

Further, the Met department predicted clear skies for Sindh and Balochistan tomorrow, adding that that would make chances of sighting the crescent moon high as compared to Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa where skies will remain cloudy. The duration of the appearance of the moon would be about 40 to 45 minutes.

The Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee will meet on Friday for the sighting of the moon. Chairman of the committee Mufti Muneeb-ur-Rehman would chair a meeting of Sindh zonal committee at Pakistan Meteorological Department building in Karachi while other members of the committee would attend meetings of the provincial and district committees in their respective cities.

Eidul Fitr marks the culmination of the holy month of Ramazan. Ramazan commenced in the country from June 19.

nisar ahmed sait | 9 years ago | Reply Islam is a very highly localised religion. sunset sunrise noon rule for daily namaz, similarly, not just 7 persons but it should be a mass sighting and common knowledge, that the moon has been sighted. if a large group of people from one place visits another and gives evidence only then can idd be celebrated. Even if the quazi sees it and he is alone in sighting even then idd cannot be celebrated. one who is eeing the mon should not point it out to anyone but let them sight it on their own. How wise is Allah only He knows best. Otherwise the whole world would come to a stop. today all holidays and vacations and daily office routines are all very flexible. to avoid congestion on the roads and highways. So makes sense dont you think. for the commencement of Ramadan just the sighting of one or two persons who are pious well known and respected for their character, regardless of their age, can give evidence of their sighting, for the commencement of ramadan, rest Wallah hi Alam.
good | 9 years ago | Reply I don't understand one thing. Moon sighting is supposed to be like if 7 Muslims see the moon then its Eid. Is there any saying which mentions that each country should look for moon themselves ? Because as a matter of fact moon was visible on Earth. If a moon is visible on earth then it should be eid every where. Just saying!
