Taking Charge : Police to secure metro bus service

RAWALPINDI: The Punjab Metro Bus Authority has decided to hand over the security of the Rawalpindi-Islamabad Metro Bus Service to the police. A private company is presently providing security services but sources said the metro administration has refused to look after security affairs. All the stations located in Rawalpindi will be handed over to the Rawalpindi police while the Islamabad Police will take responsibility for securing 14 metro stations in the capital. Sources said the process would take at least six months. Meanwhile, the metro bus authority has asked contactors of the multi billion project to ensure removal of flaws causing leakage at the stations in the twin cities. Passengers had to face immense problems after a number of stations were flooded and saw leakages following the recent downpour.
