RAWALPINDI: Bogus receipts worth Rs3 million have been discovered from the Rawalpindi Excise and Taxation Department. Department officials informed that the account office had termed the receipts as fake during an audit. The Rawalpindi Excise and Taxation Department Director Tanveer Gondal had also started action against three former property inspectors who were later reinstated on their posts due to unknown reasons. A source claimed that senior officials in the excise department were trying to sweep the issue under the carpet so no action could be taken against the corrupt officers. The officials also wanted to give a clean chit to corrupt officials.
