UN report — another eyewash?

KARACHI: This is with reference to Ayesha Siddiqa’s article of April 25 titled ‘UN report — another whitewash?’ I fail to see the relation between the Hamoodur Rahman Commission report and the UN one on Benazir Bhutto’s assassination.

Why didn’t Ms Bhutto pay heed to the advice given by security agencies personnel who warned her to keep a low public profile? How could Pervez Musharraf have benefitted from her death — we all know who the beneficiaries of her death are.

Syed A. Mateen | 14 years ago | Reply If Ayesha Siddiqa knows who the beneficiaries are then she should write another article and spell out the names of the beneficiaries loud and clear. Probably, BB must have thought that one of the reasons of advice given to her not to come to Pakistan was part of the politics to keep her out from the election process. Nevertheless, BB came to Pakistan and was greeted by terrorists on Shahrah-e-Faisal, Karachi with twin bomb blasts. Despite the first attempt on her life, she went out to meet the masses. If BB didn’t listen to the advice of the security agencies, it was the duty of the security agencies to protect the life of BB. The bottom line is BB lost her life. Investigations are always made by the Police incase if a common man is murdered somewhere in the country. It is a murder case of a two-time elected former Prime Minister. The previous governments could not fix the responsibility of assassination of the first Prime Minister of Pakistan, Liaquat Ali Khan; at least in the case of BB, people would like to know the truth as who was actually behind the assassination of BB.
