The Allama Iqbal Open University (AIOU) will soon launch special programmes in foreign languages such as Chinese, German and Arabic.
An international department will be set up for the purpose at university’s main campus. This was announced by AIOU Vice Chancellor (VC) Dr Shahid Siddiqui at the concluding session of a two-week summer camp for children arranged by the department of French.
The university is already running a French online programme which has benefited thousands of students in learning the European language. A separate Chinese Language Centre will also be set up and certificate courses will be launched in collaboration with the Open University of China, the VC shared.
