Civil-military approach needed to make Balochistan prosperous: army chief

ISPR says Balochistan’s security has 'significantly' improved due to targetted operation by FC and police

RAWALPINDI: Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Raheel Sharif has said that a collective civil-military approach for security and development is needed for Balochistan to become a regional hub for energy and trade.

According to DG ISPR Asim Bajwa, General Raheel on Friday was briefed on security situation of the province in Quetta.

He was apprised on Balochistan’s law and order situation, which according to ISPR has significantly improved due to across the board and targeted operation by both FC and police.

The army chief commended the law enforcement agencies for bringing noticeable improvement in the Balochistan’s security, and assured support to the provincial government, and the people in their quest for peace and development in the region.

He welcomed those militants who laid down arms into the mainstream, and assured support for their rehabilitation in leading a productive life.

The COAS also appreciated FWO for construction of road network across length and breadth of Balochistan against all odds, and also directed them to ensure quality, timely completion.
