He was speaking to journalists during his visit to Police Assistance Line (PAL) Centre in Haripur on Thursday. Durrani was there for the inauguration of the new DPO office block. Hazara DIG Akhtar Hayat Gandapur and SP Investigation Branch Rasool Shah were also present on the occasion.
“Following these reforms, we have seen a drastic change in the attitude of police officials,” he said. “In the past, the police were seen as a largely unreliable force. However, this perception has changed over time.”
According to Durrani, the police are no longer deemed a “dreadful force”. He said, “We have managed to address complaints in an effective manner.”
Before and after
The IGP said trivial matters which once took up a considerable amount of time were now being addressed in an effective manner.
“PAL centres are playing a pivotal role in making the police department accessible to every citizen,” he said. “Matters which once took weeks and months to be resolved are now being addressed within hours.”
Easier done than said
According to Durrani, complainants do not need to visit police stations to register FIRs.
“After a complaint is registered with PAL Centre in Haripur, it is sent to the relevant police station without delay.” he said. “The centre must be lauded for its commitment.”
