Instead of initiating a crackdown and impounding the vehicles, they should revamp the registration system

PARACHINAR: The political administration of Kurram Agency has initiated a crackdown against non-custom paid vehicles. Law-enforcement officials have been directed to impound all vehicles that cannot be verified through registration documents. Hundreds of cars have already been seized. However, the decision has been vehemently criticised. Speaking to The Express Tribune, Pakistan Peoples Party Kurram President Hamid Turi said such actions would do little to solve the problem. “Instead of initiating a crackdown and impounding the vehicles, they should revamp the registration system,” he said. According to a political administration official, around 10,000 non-custom paid vehicles were registered two years ago. “There are an estimated 7,000 vehicles in the agency for which taxes have not been paid,” he added.
