CNG stations closure ineffective: Ghias Paracha

Express April 26, 2010

LAHORE: All Pakistan CNG Association Chairman Ghias Paracha said that the closure of CNG stations for one day a week will not improve the power generation in the country.

Speaking to Express, Paracha said Sui Northern Gas has forwarded a schedule of closing down CNG stations across the country.

According to the decision, CNG stations across Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhawa will remain closed on Tuesday while Sui Southern Gas will also suspend the supply to CNG stations for one day a week.

The chairman added that the decision may only increase electricity production by 100 megawatts while curtailing CNG supply will add to people's problems.

Raja pervaiz is a sorry excuse for a minister. the prime minister and chief ministers instead of solving peoples economic and social problems come up with silly ideas to cover up their own failure to govern.
Syed A. Mateen | 14 years ago | Reply There was a time when people were switching over their cars from petrol to CNG due to one simple reason that CNG was much cheaper than petrol. Slowly and gradually the greedy owners of CNG stations started increasing CNG rates on one pretext or the other. Now there is a little difference left between the prices of CNG and petrol. On the top of it, to meet the shortfall of electricity, closure of CNG stations has been announced for one day in the entire country. While two days holidays have already been announced for the government offices and closure of one day CNG stations will badly affect people who are running their vehicles purely on CNG. Instead of finding a permanent solution of electricity crises, the government is acting in a haphazard manner which will add to the miseries of already affected people.
