The arrest spree has created panic among the residents in the downtown areas of Srinagar, Indian Kashmir as Indian police have arrested over 50 youth during house raids in the area.
According to Kashmir Media Service, the police personnel while carrying out day and night raids have forced dozens of youth to go into hiding as police said that around 100 youth were still wanted for participating in anti-India and pro-freedom protests.
An official of police Nowhatta station said, “We have arrested over 50 youths during last some days. All of them are involved in stone pelting while over 100 are still wanted.”
The families of the arrested youth have been refuting the allegations stating that the detained persons were innocent. “Police raided my house last night and arrested my son who was not involved in any stone pelting incident,” a resident said.
