Such people had also left the party when Zulfikar Ali Bhutto and Benazir Bhutto were alive

KARACHI: Since Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) has thousands of leaders in Punjab, it is unlikely to be affected by any wave of defections, the party’s vice president in Punjab Raja Riaz said on Sunday. Such people had also left the party when Zulfikar Ali Bhutto and Benazir Bhutto were alive, but the PPP continued to be the biggest political entity in the country, he said. Riaz was addressing a news conference at the PPP Media Cell to mark July 5 as Black Day. On this day in 1977, the then army chief Gen Zia had overthrown the PPP government of Zulfikar Ali Bhutto and imposed martial law in the country.
